U.S Surpasses 15 Million Coronavirus Cases
After experiencing one of the deadliest weeks since the coronavirus pandemic started, the U.S has now surpassed 15 million confirmed cases of the virus as of Tuesday. The U.S now leads worldwide with the highest number of cases and deaths.
Johns Hopkins University reports that there are 15,019,092 recorded cases in the U.S. India follows with 9.7 million cases. There are currently 284,000 deaths recorded in America. There are also 2,237 daily coronavirus deaths nationwide.
“We probably are just going to start seeing the brunt of what it means when you have people traveling and congregating in seemingly innocent settings,” America’s top infectious disease specialist, Dr. Anthony Fauci, said to CNN. “The situation is that as we enter now from the Thanksgiving holiday season into the Christmas holiday season, it’s going to be challenging.”

Many states are still open with the exception of California which has adopted a three-week stay-at-home order. Georgia, which is open, has 9,000 deaths recorded.
Globally, there are over 67 million confirmed COVID-19 cases, with a worldwide death toll of more than 1.5 million people. The U.K began the first series of vaccinations today against the virus. Donald Trump has promised that the first set of U.S vaccinations will be given to citizens.
