U.S. Coast Guard Searches For Man Who Jumped From Stateroom Balcony On Carnival Cruise

The U.S. Coast Guard is currently searching for a male passenger who jumped from the balcony of the Carnival Dream cruise late Thursday evening.

According to NBC News, the Coast Guard received a call around 8:45 p.m. that the 26-year-old passenger went overboard on the ship. The cruise ship was 47 miles southeast of Galveston and was headed on a four-day voyage to Cozumel, Mexico. A Carnival Cruise spokesperson said in a statement that the passenger jumped from his stateroom balcony hours after the ship departed from Galveston.

“We are saddened by this outcome and the onboard CareTeam is assisting the guest’s family,”

After receiving news about the passenger, Carnival Dream officials immediately starts search-and-rescue procedures. The ship returned to the area where the man jumped.
