Tyrese Weighs In On VMAs “Sh*t Show”: “Everything Has Become One Gigantic Antic”
Whew! Tyrese is not feeling award shows anymore.
Last night, MTV held its 2021 VMAs and a lot went down on and off stage. From Machine Gun Kelly and Connor McGregor getting into on the red carpet, to Lil Nas X spicing things up, and Chloe Bailey giving a killer controversial performance — it was definitely an entertaining night.
However, some people felt like the show lacked originality and talent. Singer and actor Tyrese took to social media right after the show to share how he felt about it all. He wrote on his IG Story: “Everything has become one gigantic ANTIC… Award shows, social media, and life feels like one gigantic ANTIC.” He added, “I miss the days when popularity was actually based on TALENT… Hit records and hit movies…”
The 42-year-old went on to say,
“So I will sit back like most and continue to watch the sh*t show… I guess it’s all entertainment right? Lol. Whatever it takes just go viral.”
Tyrese wasn’t the only one to feel that way. One Twitter user said, “Wtf was this year’s VMA’s. Almost every performance were artists that lacked any substance. Everything sounded the same and barely an instrument on stage. What has happened to music #VMAs.” Another added, “All the performances kinda sucked. like everything look like we seen it before nothing new the Vmas this year was a bunch of tribute performances.”
