In ‘Manifesto’, Tyler raps about his controversial past and how the internet has tried to cancel him for his antics when he first popped onto the music scene. In his verse, Tyler raps: “I was canceled before canceled was with Twitter fingers (Haha) / Protestin’ outside my shows, I gave them the middle finger (F*CK ’em)”.
From there, Tyler then addressed his past inappropriate tweets about singer Selena Gomez. As The Blast points out, a few years ago, Tyler posted several tweets about the actress. One old tweet read, “@selenagomez is now 18. so she can now legally take my d*ck in her f*cking a**” and “Selena Gomez is gonna take my d*ck deep in her f*cking p*ssy.” In his new track, Tyler explained, “I was a teener, tweetin’ Selena crazy sh*t / Didn’t wanna offend her, apologize when I seen her / Back when I was tryna fuck Bieber, Just-in”.
Although Tyler has apologized… a decade letter, some fans were actually here for his song while some Selena fans were simply not. One person tweeted, “I CANT BELIEVE HE REALLY APOLOGIZED TO SELENA TYLER FINALLY,” while another added, “This is not an apology.”
