Tyler Perry Family Questions His Nephew’s Suspicious Prison Suicide

The Tyler Perry family is questioning the circumstances around the death of his nephew, 26-year-old Gavin Porter, who reportedly and suspiciously died by suicide in his prison cell.

Earlier this week, Porter is said to have hung himself with a bed sheet in his St. Helena Parish, LA cell, while in solitary confinement, but the family reportedly isn’t convinced it was that simple.

Subsequent to a fight with another inmate over the weekend, Porter was sent to solitary confinement. When guards went to check on him around 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday (Feb. 25), he was fine, but during a check at 8:00, they found him dead, claiming there wasn’t any “foul play.” But, the family doesn’t believe that’s the case.

Furthermore, Porter was originally arrested back in 2016 for shooting and killing his biological father, in front of his mother after a fight broke out between the two.

Following his arrest, Porter pled no contest to manslaughter and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
