Two suspects have been arrested after intentionally letting their dogs loose to attack a cat named Buddy earlier this week in Frankford.

Earlier this week, a video of the intentional dog attack went viral on social media after it showed the two suspects approaching Buddy with their dogs while he was sitting on a porch. Moments later, the pair released the dogs and laughed as the feline was viciously attacked. The Pennsylvania SPCA said Buddy sustained life-threatening injuries from the attack but he appears to be recovering after receiving round-the-clock care.
One of the male suspects, aged 17, entered the Pennsylvania SPCA with a parent on Friday to address the charges and authorities said his accomplice, a 12-year-old male, is expected to surrender on Saturday. The charges filed against the pair include felony animal fighting, felony aggravated animal cruelty, and a conspiracy charge.

After Buddy recovers, he will be rehomed as the family who was taking care of him said he was an outdoor cat who would stop by for food and water.
“While this act of cruelty was especially shocking in its intentional nature, the outpouring of support for Buddy the cat and the effort to bring the offenders to justice has been overwhelming,” said PSPCA CEO Julie Klim.
