Social media is currently in shambles after Jada Pinkett Smith shockingly revealed that she and Will have been separated for seven years!

As we previously reported, Jada made the bombshell revelation in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE and in a teaser for an upcoming interview on the Today Show.

In the promo exclusive clip from her upcoming NBC News prime-time special with Hoda Kotb — which will air on Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, Jada confirms to Hoda that she and Smith have been separated and have lived “completely separate lives” since 2016, nearly 20 years after they married in 1997. Smith admitted to Hoda that she didn’t want to just blurt out the news because it came down to “just not being ready yet … Still trying to figure out between the two of us how to be in partnership … In regards to, how do we present that to people? We hadn’t figured that out.” Well, y’all know Twitter users had a field day with this. Here’s what some had to say:

One person tweeted, “So Will Smith smacked the shit out of Chris Rock over this joke and is not even together with Jada Pinkett 😭😭😭😭… this is embarrassing city boys down -1000” Another said, “Wait… so Will Smith slapped Chris Rock for nothing 😭😭” A third added, “So Will basically ruined his life for someone he’s been separated from for seven years? Damn! My GOAT is down horrendous!”

While speaking with PEOPLE, Jada also talked about the infamous 2022 Oscars slap where her husband Will hit Rock for joking about her alopecia. She admitted that she initially thought it was a “skit,” but quickly realized it wasn’t a joking moment on his part.

“I thought, ‘This is a skit.’ ” Like many people watching the incident unfold on live TV, she didn’t believe it was real at first. “I was like, ‘There’s no way that Will hit him,’ ” Jada, recalls. “It wasn’t until Will started to walk back to his chair that I even realized it wasn’t a skit.”

Like any wife would do, Jada still stuck by Will’s side but decided it was best to let him “figure this out for himself” when it came to handling the situation overall.

Jada also goes more into detail about her love for her children and self-acceptance. The 52-year-old’s new book “Worthy” will be released on October 17, 2023, but it is available for preorder now.
