Twitter Denies Suspending Nicki Minaj Over COVID Tweets

On Wednesday, rapper Nicki Minaj told her Instagram followers that she has been put in “Twitter jail” and will possibly never use Twitter again following backlash over her COVID vaccine tweets. However, Twitter is now hitting back and denying that it took any action against her account.

“I’m in Twitter jail y’all,” the rap star explained on Instagram. “They didn’t like what I was saying over there on that block, I guess my poll was gonna be asking questions is OK I like being fkng dumb then boom. Can’t tweet.” The social media platform said publicly that her controversial tweets did not violate their rules at all. In a statement to Vulture, the social media company said: “Twitter did not take any enforcement action on the account referenced.”

Nicki Minaj has been making headlines after she revealed earlier this week that she tested positive for COVID-19 and was not able to attend the VMAs or Met Gala. Minaj, who isn’t against the vaccine, noted that she wouldn’t take it until she’s done enough research and feels comfortable enough to do so. However, what rubbed folks the wrong way was her tweet about her cousin’s friend who she claims suffered testicular complications from the COVID vaccine. “My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine cuz his friend got it & became impotent. His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding,” she wrote.

Minaj also claimed earlier that she was invited to the White House to discuss her coronavirus vaccine hesitancy. However, CNN anchor Don Lemon quoted a White House official who suggested that the administration offered only a phone call with the rapper. Here’s how Nicki responded to that:
