Hackers have taken over the Twitter accounts of famous celebrities and figures such as Kim Kardashian, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, and Jeff Bezos to promote a Bitcoin scam.
In a report by Business Insider, hackers started to take over the Twitter accounts of cryptocurrency companies such as KUCOIN, Binance, and Gemini and moved on to high-profile accounts of celebrities and public figures. The tweets start with the phrase “We are doubling all BTC payments sent to our COVID-19 Fund! You send $1,000, we send $2,000 back! Only going on for the next 30 minutes, enjoy.” along with the bitcoin address.
The hackers have attempted to infiltrate the profiles of Bill Gates, Kanye West, Barack Obama, Cash App, Elon Musk, Kim Kardashian, Joe Biden, and posting the same tweet asking followers to send $1,000.
