Trump Slams US Fashion Magazines For Not Giving Wife Melania A Single Cover Shoot While He‘s Been In Office
Angry, bothered, and confused: those are some of the words to describe how Trump is feeling about the U.S. fashion industry right now.
The President recently took to social media to bash leading US lifestyle magazines for not giving his wife, Melania Trump, a single front page cover while he has been in office. In a tweet posted on Friday, Trump called the First Lady “the greatest of all time,” while retweeting a Breitbart post that said “elitist snobs in the fashion press” were ostracizing the “most elegant First Lady in American history.” He added, “Fake News!,”
Not a single major magazine has featured the former model on its cover during her husband’s presidency. Melania was on the cover of Vogue in 2005, shortly after her marriage to Trump, but that was it. The Daily Mail made a count and found, by contrast, former First Lady Michelle Obama graced at least 12 magazine covers during her time in office — including three for Vogue alone.
Meanwhile, Michelle Obama is trending as social media users look back on some of her most memorable magazine covers:
