Trinidad James is the latest celebrity to weigh in on Tory Lanez’s prison sentence.

As we previously reported, the entertainer was finally sentenced earlier this week for shooting fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion. Tory was handed down 10 years in the slammer after being found guilty of all three charges prosecutors had brought against him: assault with a firearm, illegal possession of a firearm, and negligent discharge of a gun for shooting the plaintiff.

While some people believe that’s a long time for the “Stupid Again” artist, others strongly feel like he got what he deserved. Trinidad James was recently stopped by TMZ, and asked to share his thoughts. James said if a crime was done, which it was according to the court, then Lanez should be rightfully jailed.

As we previously reported, Megan Thee Stallion accused Tory Lanez of shooting her feet in the summer of 2020 following a party at Kylie Jenner’s Los Angeles home. After years of denying, online trolling, and a tense trial, Lanez was found guilty. It was a day Megan had been looking forward to for years as she was severely traumatized and had many people even celebrities not believing her initial story.

Iggy Azalea was one out of a few celebrities to publicly show support to Lanez even when he was under intense scrutiny. During the sentencing hearing, the “Fancy” rapper wrote a three-page letter on behalf of the rapper. Legal Affairs and Trials reporter Meghann Cuniff revealed Azalea’s letter in its entirety.

She said, “I must make note of the things [I’ve] suffered through so that you understand definitively: I would not write to you on behalf of an abuser. I deeply appreciate the person he is and have never witnessed him [lose] his temper or raise his voice at a woman,” Azalea added. “He’s always been incredibly respectful of me and I refuse to believe that he would do anything in malice especially to a woman.”

Whew! While chatting with TMZ, James also reacted to her letter and said Azalea should have just kept quiet and mind her business.

Since then, Lanez has dropped Free Tory Lanez Merch and even released a statement denying the he admitted to any crime.

“I have never let a hard time intimidate me. I will never let no jail time eliminate me,” Lanez wrote. “Regardless of how they try to spin my words, I have always maintained my innocence and I always will. This week in court I took responsibility for all verbal and intimate moments that I shared with the parties involved …” Lanez continued. “That’s it. In no way, shape, or form was I apologizing for the charges I’m being wrongfully convicted of. I remain on the stance that I refuse to apologize for something that I did not do.”

“I’ve faced adversity my whole life and every time it looked like I would lose, I came out on top. This is nothing but another moment where my back is against the wall and I refuse to stop fighting till I come out victorious,” Lanez concluded. “Tough times don’t last, tough people do.”
