Trevor Noah Announces His Departure From ‘The Daily Show’

Trevor Noah is leaving Comedy Central’s ‘The Daily Show after hosting the news program for seven years.

The host announced his leave on Thursday after telling the audience that his time on the show was ending. According to TMZ, a close source to Comedy Central said, Trevor Noah is finishing his hosting gig due to his schedule, and it’s too much for him to commit to a daily show. It is unclear when he officially leaves, but a scheduled timeline is in the works.

“We are grateful to Trevor for our amazing partnership over the past “seven years.  As we look ahead, we’re excited for the next chapter in the 25+ year history of ‘”The Daily Show,” Comedy Central said in a statement to the outlet.

He’s hosted ‘The Daily Show’ since 2015 after Jon Stewart. Stewart was the program’s longtime host since 1999 after the original host Craig Killborn left in 1998. During his time on the show, Noah won a Primetime Emmy Award and was nominated for several others. He also hosted the Grammy Awards and the White House Correspondent Dinner.

Before The Daily Show,  Noah hosted television and radio programs in South Africa. He moved to the United States in 2011 and became the first South African stand-up comedian on ‘The Tonight Show in 2012. He also appeared on Late Show With David Letterman and became a recurring contributor to The Daily Show in 2014.

Initially, he extended his contract with Comedy Central through 2022, but now he’s officially leaving.

Fans react to Trevor Noah’s departure from the show, and it is unclear who will be his replacement.

Although, it is unclear who will replace Noah once he officially leaves the show, fans reacted to his announcement and expressed that his time on ‘The Daily Show’ will be missed.
