Kanye West is no longer headlining the first night of Rolling Loud Miami 2022. Instead, Kid Cudi will be replacing the rap star and is now set to perform at Hard Rock Stadium on Friday, July 22. The festival announced the big changes over the weekend in a statement that read,
“We were looking forward to Ye headlining Rolling Loud Miami 2022,” Rolling Loud co-founders Tariq Cherif and Matt Zingler said with Pitchfork. “We spent months working with him and his team on the performance. Unfortunately, Ye has decided that he will no longer be performing. This is the first time a headliner has ever pulled off our show and though we don’t take it lightly, we wish him the best. We look forward to welcoming Kid Cudi as a headliner in Miami and we can’t wait to see what he has in store.”
Of course, Ye’s fans were super upset to learn that he wouldn’t be taking the stage anymore and they were even more upset to learn that Travis Scott wouldn’t be taking over for him. However, RL co-founder Tariq Cherif gave festival goers an explanation why the “Sicko Mode” rapper wouldn’t be the right pick, saying the “venue won’t allow Travis because of astroworld deaths.”

A following Rolling Loud spokesperson also told TMZ, “All artists are in consideration for the event. But, in this case, each situation had logistical challenges and Travis wasn’t an option for this upcoming week.”
What Happened At Astroworld?
On November 5, 2021, a crowd crush occurred during the first night of the 2021 Astroworld Festival, the music event that was held at NRG Park in Houston, Texas. Eight people died on the night of the concert, and two more died in the hospital over the following day. The cause of death for all ten victims was ruled to be accidental compressive asphyxiation. Only one of the ten was affected by the additional influence of a toxic combination of drugs and alcohol.
Travis has apologized for the deaths and has even offered to pay for the funeral services of the victims. However, most have declined.
“I’m absolutely devastated by what took
place last night. My prayers go out to the
families and all those impacted by what
happened at Astroworld Festival.
Houston PD has my total support as they
continue to look into the tragic loss of life.
I am committed to working together with the
Houston community to heal and support the
families in need. Thank you to Houston PD,
Fire Department and NRG Park for their
immediate response and support.
Love You All,” Travis said at the time.
Travis Scott Is now facing one giant lawsuit made up of nearly 400 individually filed cases from victims seeking billions of dollars in damages following the tragedy.
