Tory Lanez will be headed back to court on Thursday. The 31-year-old will be going for his motion for bail as he appeals his 10-year prison sentence for shooting fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion.

Legal affairs journalist Meghann M. Cuniff said the court sent out a notice for the 10:30 a.m. hearing.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David V. Herriford, who on Aug. 8 rejected Lanez’s request for probation and alcoholism treatment and sentenced him to 10 years in prison, with credit for 305 days served.

Cuniff noted that a new lawyer previously filed a motion asking that Lanez be allowed to pause his prison sentence and instead “live locally in the Los Angeles area” with his new wife and their six-year-old son…

Cuniff who has been following the case closely spoke with Michael Freedman of The Freedman Firm, who stated that this will be pretty tough for Lanez to get: “Generally, to get bail pending appeal, you have to show a substantial likelihood of prevailing on appeal, which often means a substantial likelihood you can show error by the trial judge,” he explained. “So it’s pretty rare for a trial judge to find the defense can make this showing about the same judge’s own rulings, especially after the judge has already denied post-trial motions raising those same arguments.”

Although it may seem like a challenge for Lanez, it’s not entirely impossible.
