Tory Lanez is trying to keep his head up after a judge shot down his request for bond.

As we previously reported, Lanez faced the hard reality during a hearing in a Los Angeles courtroom yesterday. His lawyers had asked a judge to release the star on bond while he fights the verdict in his shooting case with Megan There Stallion. Lanez requested to live with his new wife and son while the appeal goes through the courts but was ultimately denied at the hearing on Thursday (14.09.23) – meaning he will have to stay behind bars.

A member of Tory’s legal team and the CEO of Unite the People, Ceasar McDowell shared with TMZ that Tory actually called his lawyers Thursday, just minutes after a judge denied him bond, and assured them he’s going to try his best to remain hopeful for the future and not give up on his fight for freedom.

So How Does He Plan To Do That?

According to Caesar, Tory’s legal team includes plans to file an emergency motion to try to reverse the judge’s ruling.

The 31-year-old rapper – real name is Daystar Peterson – was handed down a 10 year prison sentenced after being convicted of first-degree assault, discharge of a firearm with gross negligence and having a concealed and unregistered firearm in a vehicle in relation to the 2020 incident.

Per TMZ, Tory strongly believes a higher court will be more receptive to him than the trial court judge who issued Thursday’s ruling. Unite the People Inc., a social justice advocacy group, announced in a statement to KABC that the organization has been retained to represent the entertainer.

“As an organization committed to promoting justice and equality, we firmly believe in standing by our clients and supporting them in times of need,” the statement said of Lanez who is in the process of appealing his 10-year sentence. “Mr. Peterson has been an integral part of our advisory board, contributing his time, resources, and expertise to further our cause. It is now our turn to stand by him and ensure that he receives a fair and just legal process.”

“We firmly believe in the power of the legal system and the impact it can have on achieving justice, Unite the People inc will do all it can to ensure that justice prevails,” the statement continued.

Ceasar who also spoke with reporters after the hearing on Thursday said that Lanez was ultimately “disproportionally sentenced” and they will move forward with the appeal.
