Tory Lanez says that he refrains from bringing up his legal issues because he’s currently facing 24 years in prison, seemingly referring to his ongoing court case with Megan Thee Stallion. The 30-year-old, who is on a promotional campaign in support of his new album, “Sorry 4 What,” sat down with Akademiks on his “Off The Record” podcast, where he spoke on why he chooses to steer away from speaking of his legal drama on social media.

“One thing connects to another, and when you start talking about one thing, people then connect it to something else,” Lanez expressed to Akademiks. “And most of the time, those things have no correlation to each other, and so because of that, it’s like, you avoid it in its entirety because it’s not the time and place. That’s just wisdom.”

The Canadian native then went on to say that his decision to not comment on legal matters that are unfolding in the media is merely rooted around the fact that he’s facing 24 years in prison next month. “No, guys, I am in an open case. And maybe I make it look really beautiful, but I’m facing 24 years next month […] This is not no play-play situation. I’ve been in this for three years; I’ve never played internet games with you guys, and I’m not going to start now.”

As Hollywood Unlocked reported on Monday, a couple came forward and accused Lanez of colliding his vehicle with their car on New Year’s Eve in Miami. The singer-rapper was alleged to have fled the scene and failed to respond to Krisha and Jesse Grullon’s claim within 45 days, which has since seen get their attorneys involved by filing a lawsuit against him.

To make matters worse, Krisha says he was around three months pregnant with Lanez’ Bentley SUV hit them from the read left side, but she was even more startled that instead of making sure the couple was okay, he allegedly didn’t hesitate to keep driving. Lanez’ attorney, Andell Brown, has since issued a statement to TMZ, saying the court filing is “baseless” and that they are not worried about the matter being taken to court by any means.

Furthermore, Brown finds it odd that the alleged incident occurred in January but the Grullons supposedly didn’t file their claim until July, giving him all the more reason to believe the accusations made against his client are false. He also suspects the pair located Lanez’ license plate and decided to target him with no actual evidence or credible information to his client ever being in close proximity with the two.
