Autopsy Reveals Olympic Medalist Tori Bowie Died Due To Complications Of Childbirth

So sad! The three-time Olympic medalist Tori Bowie passed away last month from complications of child birth, as she was nearly eight months pregnant and “undergoing labor” at the time of her death.

As we previously reported, authorities were called to Bowie’s home last month for a welfare check after those close to her had gone “several days” without hearing from her. Deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Florida entered Bowie’s home and found her dead, per TMZ Sports. She was 32 years old.

Following her passing Bowie’s management team released a statement that read: “We’ve lost a client, dear friend, daughter and sister, Tori was a champion…a beacon of light that shined so bright! We’re truly heartbroken and our prayers are with the family and friends.”

USA Track and Field also said on Twitter that it was “deeply saddened” to hear of Bowie’s death. “USATF is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Tori Bowie, a three-time Olympic medalist and two-time world champion. Her impact on the sport is immeasurable, and she will be greatly missed.”

World Athletics (WA) added in an Instagram post: “World Athletics is deeply saddened by the passing of Tori Bowie, the 2017 world 100m champion and multiple Olympic medallist.”

Jamaican sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce also tweeted about the sad news saying, “My heart breaks for the family of Tori Bowie. A great competitor and source of light. Your energy and smile will always be with me. Rest in peace.” Fellow Olympic athlete Sha’Carri Richardson shared a series of pictures of Bowie and added heart breaking emojis. In on post she said, “People never know what
you’re going through, Rise up Queen, you
deserve peace.”

Bowie won three medals at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She was the anchor on the gold medal-winning 4×100-meter relay team alongside Tianna Bartoletta, Allyson Felix and English Gardner. She also won silver in the 100-meter dash and bronze in the 200-meter dash.

Bowie also won bronze in the 100-meter dash at the 2015 world championships in Beijing, and won the 100-meter dash and 4×100-meter relay at the 2017 World Athletics Championships in London. She finished fourth in the long jump at the 2019 World Championships in Qatar.
