Tommy ‘Tiny’ Lister Legally Changed Name To Pay Homage To ‘Friday’ Character ‘Deebo’

Late actor and professional wrestler Tommy “Tiny” Lister had officially and legally changed his name to pay homage to his infamous ‘Friday‘ character “Deebo” prior to his passing.

While his cause of death has yet to be officially determined as officials are still doing tests, TMZ reports that Lister’s full name on his death certificate reads Tommy Debo Lister, which is far different from the name listed on his birth certificate that reads Thomas Duane Lister Jr.

Fun fact though is that as Lister updated his legal name, opting out of using his longtime public nickname “Tiny,” he left out a second “e” in the cult-classic character’s name, instead spelling it “Debo.” Furthermore, Lister’s manager, Cindy Cowan, reveals Lister made the change official in a Los Angeles court about six months ago, mainly  because he along with fans knew him mostly from ‘Friday‘ versus his occasional professional wrestling past. As reported, Lister passed on December 10, 2020 at 62, with family believing it was due to COVID-19.
