2-Year-Old Girl’s Uncle Charged For Shooting After Family Fight Over T-Shirt
Maine State Police confirmed the arrest and charging of the toddler’s uncle who allegedly opened fire and struck her, as well as her father, Ethan Huber Young, and grandfather — Andrew’s own father — Mark Evans Young, during the famly fight over a t-shirt.
Following the incident at the family home, the toddler girl was rushed to the hospital, but she sadly succumbed to her injuries while being treated. Police further announce that an autopsy is scheduled to be performed in the next few days.
On Sunday afternoon, Andrew turned himself into Maine State Police Detectives. He is currently being detained in York County Jail and is being held without bail.
Andrew reportedly told police that he and his brother Ethan got into it over a t-shirt. He said Ethan was wearing his shirt and then changed out of it and to put on another shirt of his.
Andrew said his father Mark told him to leave the house. So he left and went to a Portland Sea Dogs baseball game with his girlfriend; where he allegedly received texts from Ethan “talking sh*t to him,” and claiming he’d destroy his property and smash his hamster cage.
The police affidavit said Andrew then returned home with a loaded .22, which he had stolen from his father. Andrew’s mother, Candace Huber, said she was in the first-floor bathroom when he busted in and started “breaking things again.”
Andrew’s father escorted him out a second time, took his house key from him and locked him out. Andrew then grabbed the gun and allegedly came back to the door firing. That’s when he allegedly shot his brother Ethan, his father Mark and his niece Octavia. It’s reported that Ethan was shot once in the arm and once in the shoulder, while the father was shot in the face.
