Afida Turner is still dealing with the unimaginable pain of losing her loved ones, her husband Ronnie Turner, and his legendary mother, Tina Turner.

As we previously reported, Tina and Ike Turner’s only biological son, Ronnie, was just 62 when he passed away on December 8, 2022, due to complications from colon cancer. Months later, his mother, the Queen of Rock and Roll died on May 24, 2023, at age 83, after years of battling health issues. In a new interview with PEOPLE, Afida gives her supporters an update on how she’s been doing following the devastating losses and revealed in the process her plans to expand their family with her eggs and the sperm he froze as a birthday gift to her before his death last.

Before sharing those details she admitted, “It was very sad that Ronnie passed, and then his mom passed six months after. It is very difficult for me because people only see the music or the pictures, but I go back home and scream the names of my loved ones. [That pain] will never go away,” she told PEOPLE. “I’m still very depressed and thinking about very bad, dark, bad stuff,” Afida admits wistfully. “You don’t want to go through this in life. You have to talk to God, otherwise, you go nuts and kill yourself. I’m suffering and my heart is destroyed. I’m trying not to lose my mind.”

Before his passing, two were actually planning to have a kid. However, on that Thursday morning, law and enforcement received a 911 call from a person who said Ronnie was outside their home and having a hard time breathing. A few minutes later, he collapsed and wasn’t breathing at all. First responders rushed to the San Fernando Valley address where bystanders were attempting CPR. Sadly, those efforts didn’t work, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The place of death is listed as a sidewalk.

Despite how difficult that is to deal with, she told the outlet the only thing that’s keeping her going is the thought of motherhood. “I’m going to have Ronnie’s baby!” She told the outlet. “If I can. I’m 46. But we’ll see,” she added.

Speaking more about her baby plans, she told PEOPLE she hopes to carry the baby through IVF before her next birthday which falls on Dec. 22. “It’s still bad because he’s not here, but what can I do?” she asks. “At least I will have a little one that looks like Ronnie. A monster like me and him, can you imagine?”
