Tina Knowles Recalls Beyoncé Getting 'Bullied' As A Kid

Tina Knowles is opening up about her three daughters, including her bonus baby Kelly Rowland, and biological babies Solange Knowles and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, who apparently was a “very shy” girl who got “bullied” as a kid.

While speaking with Vogue for its ‘On the Podcast’ segment, Tina Knowles talked about being a fashion trendsetter, launching her haircare line Cécred with her daughter Beyoncé, and of course all about her family life with her daughters and grandchildren.

When asked “What are your favorite memories from when your daughters were young?” Knowles gave separate answers for each of her three girls, beginning with her 32-time Grammy Award-winning first-born. Knowles said one of her favorite memories of Bey was her standing up to a bully as a child.

70-year-old Tina Knowles, who shares Bey and Solange with ex-husband Mathew Knowles, said, “Beyoncé, she was very shy and she got bullied a bit, but the day she stood up for someone — she didn’t stand up for herself, but she stood up for them.

Knowles began to well up a bit recalling the memory. Catching herself, she said, “I’m getting emotional talking about it. I just couldn’t have been more proud of her.”

Speaking on her second-born Grammy Award-winning daughter Solange Knowles, Knowles said, “[With] Solange [it] was her signing a petition in school. She was only in like 5th grade and she was out getting a petition signed. So, she’s always been an activist.”

Transitioning to her bonus daughter and Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland, Knowles said, “Kelly was always this kid that just tried to protect everybody. I have a memory with her and her best friend Barbara, and her being a mediator, just being this little peacemaker.”

On Instagram, Knowles shared a clip of her interview with Vogue about her daughters and captioned the post, “Each child is different! But all so special. I believe kids are born with their personalities.”

She added, “My three girls All handled things very differently. Learn their personalities and respect [their] individuality. Never compare the negatives, always praise the positive differences, and pay attention to the things that you can brag on about them. They love it and it encourages positive behavior.
