‘Tiger King’ Zoo Permanently Closed After Several Animal Welfare Violations

The Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park, the Oklahoma zoo famously known for being featured in Netflix’s hit docuseries ‘Tiger King,’ has permanently closed its doors after receiving several animal welfare violations.

The current owner, Jeff Lowe, who was seen on the show, confirmed the news in a Facebook post, where he announced he was voluntarily forfeiting his USDA exhibitors license. This arrives months after an Oklahoma federal judge granted Lowe’s and Joe Exotic‘s rival Carole Baskin ownership of the park.

In a few Facebook posts, Lowe accused the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) of pressing “false accusations” against him and siding with/”folding to the “pressures of [animal rights group] PETA.” Despite his forfeiture, Lowe has since announced his new park in Thackerville, OK, which will “be a private film set for ‘Tiger King‘ related television content for cable and streaming services.”
