Tiffany Haddish Turned Down Pre-Grammy Hosting Position Because They Didn’t Want To Cut The Check!
Comedian and actress Tiffany Haddish recently opened up about a Pre-grammy hosting gig that didn’t come with a check!
The star spoke to Variety about being asked to host the 2021 Grammys Premiere Ceremony ahead of the awards. However, the gig didn’t come with a paycheck and Haddish was informed that she would have to cover her own glam costs.
“All of that would have to come out of my pocket,” she said. “I don’t know if this might mean I might not get nominated ever again, but I think it’s disrespectful … I was like, ‘The exposure is amazing but I think I have enough. I appreciate you guys asking.'”
“As much as I appreciate the honor of being nominated, that’s not OK …”.
This year Haddish has earned a second Grammy nomination for best comedy album for Netflix’s “Black Mitzvah”
“This is something that needs to be addressed,” Haddish added. “How many other people have they done that to? It’s like a guy asking you on a date but telling you that you have to pay for it.”
The Academy responded by saying that they are a non-profit that has traditionally not paid its hosts.
