Tiffany Haddish To Play Lead Role In Florence Griffith Joyner Biopic

Tiffany Haddish is set to play Olympian Florence Griffith Joyner in a new biopic about the athlete’s life and she will also produce the film.

The actress said in a statement to Variety that she is looking forward to playing the iconic Olympian as she considers Joyner as one of her childhood heroes and says, “My goal with this film is making sure that younger generations know my ‘she-ro’ Flo-Jo, the fastest woman in the world to this day, existed.” Her co-producers, Game1 co-CEO Basil Iwanyk said he and his colleague are very excited to work with Haddish on the upcoming film.

“We are thrilled to partner with Tiffany on such an important project. Tiffany has established herself as one of the greatest entertainers in the world today – helping her tell the story of her idol Flo-Jo is an amazing honor and privilege.”

Joyner gained fame for her unique styles such as her one-legged bodysuits and nail designs. She also broke several records at the 1988 Olympics in the 100 m and 200m track and her records have yet to be surpassed to this day. She died at the age of 38 after enduring an epileptic seizure.

In addition to her latest film news, Haddish will be working on multiple projects with game1 which will include a documentary series and a podcast.
