Tichina Arnold says she’d be the best person to date now that she’s in menopause. The actress appeared on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” on Wednesday, where she shed light on the decline in her reproductive hormones. During her chat with J-Hud, Tichina revealed that she didn’t think she was able to have children because she had entered menopause at a fairly young age, though she would go on to welcome 18-year-old daughter Alijah Kai in 2004.
The “Everybody Hates Chris” star joked she had “made her contribution to society” by having a child, but she was done after that, making it clear that there were no plans to have a sibling for Alijah. “But because I can’t get pregnant, I’m the best date ever,” Tichina insisted. “And you know, I’m 53 with an 18-year-old. Just pray for me; keep me in your prayers.”

Tichina proceeded by pulling out a fan behind a pillow — a device commonly used by women who experience menopausal hot flashes — before Jennifer surprised her with a bedazzled neckband ventilator. This is not the first time Tichina has talked about her dealings with menopause, having explained in a 2020 interview how she can still find the humor in situations that many would usually frown upon.
While talking to “Black Girl Nerds,” she shared, “I don’t mind and I like to make fun of menopause; to find the funny moments where you laugh instead of cry. I think that it is making me a better person because you are conscious of something. You are battling something.
Tichina says it’s all about becoming comfortable in matters that might make us feel uncertain or perhaps even uncomfortable — it’s a learning phase and the more open people are about things, the better. “My sister has lupus, and we have a foundation. We are learning so much by having our issues, our problems. But we welcome them because we are working on ourselves.”

“I’m a menopausal woman with a teenager, a mean-ager. So there’s a vortex going on in my life but it’s one of those things that is a wonderful vortex.”
