Tia Mowry Gets Emotional Over Wedding Ring From Cory Hardrict, Decides To Repurpose Ring And Make New Jewelry For Their 2 Children

Actress Tia Mowry gets emotional as she decides to repurpose her wedding ring from her ex-husband, actor Cory Hardrict, after their divorce, and make new jewelry for their two children.

Tia Mowry, 46, and Cory Hardrict, 44, first met back in 1999 and in 2008 they tied the knot. In October 2022, they announced the end of their 14-year marriage and in April 2023 their divorce was finalized. The two welcomed two children together, a son, Cree, 13, and a daughter Cairo, 6.

During the Friday (October 11) episode of her new reality TV series, ’Tia Mowry: My Next Act,’ the ‘Sister, Sister’ star broke down as she put her wedding ring back on again in front of the cameras. She said, “I haven’t worn my wedding band for two years now and it just doesn’t feel right to sell it. But what I am wanting to do is change my wedding band into something for my kids. Pass it down because they have been my biggest gift.”

Before taking a break to cry, she added, “I do want to do it because I haven’t worn it. It has just been sitting there. It was very pretty. If it is made into something else then it is put to use.” She noted that it was still a “sad” decision to make, but admitted, “This is a symbol of a marriage and it is no longer. I would rather the kids have something.”

Later in the episode, Tia Mowry takes viewers with her as she goes to repurpose her wedding ring from ex-husband Cory Hardrict and make new jewelry for their two children. The scene began with her walking into a jewelry store in Los Angeles. She told the jeweler named Julio, “So, basically. I am divorced,” to which he replied, “Congratulations!”

Surprisingly, Mowry shouts out, “Thank you!” He told her, “It’s a new chapter,” and she replied, “See, you know what? I’ve been saying that! I feel like that is very kind of you and I feel like that is the kind of thing to say. ‘Cause usually, people will be like, ‘Awe.’ There is sadness to it, don’t get me wrong, but I appreciate it.”

Mowry went revealed her intentions for meeting with Julio. She said, “It’s been two years and what I want to do is to take my wedding ring and turn it into some nice pieces, jewelry pieces, for my two kids.” In her confessional, Mowry admitted, “It is hard for me to not think about Cory when I am deciding to repurpose my wedding band because he is the one that gave me my wedding ring.”

She began to reflect on the exact moment that she got proposed to. Mowry said, “2006, December 25, I was proposed to. I was at my mother’s house around Christmas dinner and the song by Jagged Edge started playing. Cory got down on one knee in front of my whole entire family and asked to marry me. I was so surprised. So, it’s very hard for me not to think about what he would think.”

She continued to reveal, “But, I am learning that at the end of the day, I need to make this decision for me. And I think because it’s going to the kids, he’ll be okay.” Mowry chose to make her 13-year-old son Cree a chain and gave her 6-year-old daughter Ciaro a bracelet.

She added, “I just think it is so beautiful to transform something that was given out of love and to give it to your children. I just think it is so beautiful to transform something that was given out of love and to give it to your children. It makes me feel like my marriage wasn’t a waste. I did the right thing.”
