Three adults have been arrested a month after uploading a disturbing video involving a boy who was mocked and abused for being gay. Additionally, the word “gay” was shaved into the boy’s hair as a form of punishment.

Atlanta police arrested Lorkeyla Spencer,19, Brittney Mills, 35; and Jordan Richards-Nwankwo,18 earlier this week and it is currently unclear how the trio are related to Tyler. Currently, he is with the Georgia Division of Family & Children Services after they received the video from social media. According to WSB-TV, the three adults were charged with cruelty to children, and Richards-Nwankwo was additionally charged with family battery.
Atlanta Police thanked the public in a statement for using the video to locate Tyler and called the adult’s behavior unacceptable.

“We are appreciative of the number of people who flagged this case with us and for those who provided information on the location where it took place.”
A GoFundMe account for Tyler was launched by LBGTQ rights activist Hope Giselle, and city council candidate Devin Barrington-Ward to help provide clothing and other basic needs when he is placed with his legal guardian.
“Tyler is now free from the traumatic experience of dealing and engaging with his biological family and is in the hands of the Atlanta DFACS. while we recognize that governmental systems can and should be helpful we also realize that in today’s social climate some of these governmental systems are not built with the safety of black and brown Folks in mind and acknowledge that Tyler still has needs.”
