The Lee County Sheriff’s Office identified the sixth-graders as Omnia Mahgoub, Tristan Carrasquillo, and Isabella Brainard, who allegedly planned to burn down the school by setting one of the girl’s bathrooms on fire. During the investigation, it was revealed that the plot was foiled after another student overheard the trio’s conversation about the arson plot and saw Mahghoub with a grill lighter in her book bag.
Additionally, the witness said Mahgoub was going to pretend to cry about the fire and report it to school officials.

Another witness said Mahgoub threatened to light her on fire if she told anyone about the plan.
All three children are currently facing charges of conspiring to commit a first-degree felony. The school also released a statement in light of the failed plot and thanked those who warned officials.
“We are very proud of the brave students who advised administration when they found out about the plot and allowed us to immediately address the situation. As a result of students choosing to do the right thing, the rest of our school family can now continue learning as usual.“
