According to the website Downdetector, which monitors tech disruptions, reports of glitches spiked around 12:47 p.m. ET, when about 20,266 outages were reported.

Dozens of people were complaining about their account balances not showing up in the Bank of America app while others said they could access their accounts but they were showing balances of zero dollars. Meanwhile, some BoA customers revealed that when they called the automated phone lines, they were receiving their correct balances.

Bank of America — which is the second largest bank in the U.S., behind JPMorgan — serves over 69 million domestic consumer and small business clients. When the Bank of America widespread outage began affecting customers, the company attempted to assist everyone via their helpline account on X. They were directing them to an automated link to request help.

In a statement to FOX Business, the company said, “Some clients are experiencing an issue accessing their accounts and balance information today. These issues are being addressed and have largely been resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience.” According to Downdetector, the tech outages at Bank of America were still being reported into the 7 p.m. ET hour.

Many Bank of America customers were still flooding the comments on their social media pages and on the Downdetector website. One person wrote, “Bank of America told all News that they had ‘Largely Resolved the Issue.’ Liars! My balances are still not working. It doesn’t let me transfer, and my deposit is nowhere to be seen. The times I have been able to see a balance it’s an inaccurate or old balance. This is NOT fixed!”

Another wrote, “Just like the Verizon outage a few days ago…someone is testing our infrastructure. This is not a coincidence.” A third said, “Wow. All of my accounts show a $0 balance and yesterday I had over $7,000 in my accounts. Wth!!!”

A fourth person wrote, “Everyone saying it’s fixed. It’s not!! I deposited money using instant access 2 hours ago and still don’t see it even tho my account shows my balance from yesterday. It’s inaccurate. It’s not fixed. Been on hold an hour and can’t talk to anyone and stuck at a gas station wasting more gas because my deposit is missing.”

A fifth person documented their frustration with Bank of America and their automated hotlines. They said, “Logged into my banking app and have a — balance on checking and savings. Logged into my online account and my most recent transactions are not showing. Called Bank of America…the machine hung up on me. Called again and left my number for a callback…waited 15 minutes to be told by the machine that returned my call that they couldn’t answer my call…and it hung up on me again!!!! 😡”
