The Weeknd Promises To Boycott the Grammys
The Weeknd has promised to boycott the Grammy Awards moving forward, including not attending the ceremony or submitting his music for consideration after his 2021 nomination snub, despite the success of his most recent album “After Hours.”
“Because of the secret committees, I will no longer allow my label to submit my music to the Grammys,” the singer said in a statement to The New York Times on Thursday.

“The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans, and the industry transparency…,” the Weeknd tweeted in November 2020 after the nominations were announced. “Collaboratively planning a performance for weeks to not being invited? In my opinion zero nominations = you’re not invited!”
Harvey Mason Jr., the academy’s interim chief executive, said the Grammy’s are working on improving.
“We’re all disappointed when anyone is upset,” Mason said in response to the Weeknd’s statement. “But I will say that we are constantly evolving. And this year, as in past years, we are going to take a hard look at how to improve our awards process, including the nomination review committees.”
