The Weeknd is getting an interesting response from social media users over his latest interview with Vanity Fair. The singer, who graces the cover of the mag’s latest issue, praised Beyonce during one part of the conversation, claiming there’s nobody that can outsing and outdance her. Well, some people were quick to bring up names of singers who they think could very well go head-to-head with the “Formation” chart-topper, mentioning artists such as Lady Gaga as an example.

“Nobody’s outdancing and outsinging Beyoncé. There’s a lot of musicians that are not as famous that can f***ing outdance and outsing me for sure. But they can’t do what I do as The Weeknd,” he said. In response to that, one Twitter user wrote, “i think lady gaga is a better dancer than beyoncé. what does the class think?” Another fan was particularly critical of The Weeknd saying no one can outsing Beyonce, tweeting, “J Hudson, Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion, kelly Clarkson, Tori Kelly, JoJo, Jessie J, Mariah Carey sing better than Beyonce.”

One other Twitter user joked, “Why did he talk about Beyonce…if he was just going to end that paragraph by praising himself??” The Weeknd’s comments come just days after Beyonce was slammed by concert-goers who were upset that she apparently wasn’t dancing much at her Renaissance concert in Stockholm, Sweden, which many believe was due to an alleged foot surgery, though she’s never actually confirmed or denied this herself.

Fans noticed that the usually energetic and dynamic performer appeared to be holding back during her dance routines, leading to speculation that she might have undergone a secret foot surgery. These rumors first surfaced in January when a music journalist tweeted that Beyoncé had suffered some sort of foot injury prior to gracing the stage in the Atlantis in Duabi where she was paid over $20 million for one show.

Although the recent performance seemed to confirm the rumors, fans still praised Beyoncé’s impressive voice and stage presence. Many have speculated that the singer was simply taking it easy on her first night of the tour or that she’s warming herself up to get through a grueling touring schedule. And if it’s true that she did have foot surgery, she presumably wants to save some of her energy for the second leg of her tour. With that said, this has not stopped fans from questioning whether Beyoncé’s foot injury could affect her upcoming tour performances.

The “Renaissance” tour is one of Beyoncé’s most anticipated tours to date, with over 70 shows scheduled throughout Europe and North America. The tour promises to be an immersive experience that celebrates the beauty and diversity of Black culture. Fans, as seen in online videos, can expect to see stunning choreography, elaborate costumes, and powerful vocals from one of the world’s most beloved performers.
