The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has officially released a statement after singer and actress Teyana Taylor claimed she was shoved by a security guard at the 98th Annual Oscars.

On Sunday evening (March 15), videos began surfacing showing Taylor, who stars in the film ‘One Battle After Another,’ arguing with a male security guard, who was reportedly trying to manage a crowded area and keep guests safe.
Taylor repeatedly pointed her finger at him, telling him he was “very rude,” and shouldn’t be putting his hands on women. She told the people around her, “He literally shoved me… Everybody’s having a good time. But then he shoved me. That’s a different story… Do not touch me. Do not shove me.”

After the incident, Taylor told TMZ, “It’s all good. Everybody’s having a good time and then security was just doing a lot. It’s always that one.” She said she was fine and “happy.” She declared, “At the end of the day, I just don’t tolerate disrespect especially when it’s unwarranted and unprovoked.”
On Monday (March 16), TMZ reported that the Oscars security firm, which The Academy identified as SIS, confirmed Taylor’s incident with one of its guards. The company said:
“During that interaction, there was incidental contact and we regret that the situation escalated. This is not the standard of professionalism we expect from our team, and we have addressed the matter internally to help ensure situations like this do not happen again.”

The Academy also released a statement revealing it is “taking the appropriate measures to ensure this doesn’t happen again.” According to Variety, The Academy shared:
“The Academy has issued a statement after Teyana Taylor was shoved at the #Oscars 1: “We were extremely upset to learn about the experience endured by Teyana Taylor at the end of the Oscars ceremony last night. We have worked with Teyana over the last several months during awards season, and she has been nothing short of remarkable, supportive, kind, and all about community. Though the incident was with our outside security firm SIS, the experience of every single guest is our responsibility. We have made it clear to them that this behavior is not acceptable. We want to thank Teyana for showing remarkable grace, and we are taking the appropriate measures to ensure this does not happen again.”
Additionally, legendary singer and actress Dionne Warwick took to X (formerly Twitter) to defend Teyana Taylor’s security situation. She wrote:
“So proud of my baby @TEYANATAYLOR on so many levels. She stood her ground with that security situation like the class act she is and getting her FIRST Oscar nomination? That’s my girl. 😍😍😍 You go dear!!!”
Elsewhere, Teyana Taylor has also been defending herself against critics trolling her overall behavior at the Oscars last night.
