Richmond resident Angela Nava decided to set a skeleton-themed strip club for Halloween this year. The skeleton strippers are seen with different color wigs and giving lap dances to male patrons. However, the decorations have caught the attention of the homeowners’ association in Nava’s community. They told her she has 30 days to take down the decorations in addition to claiming they were “inappropriate” for the family-orientated neighborhood. Nava said she thought of taking them down at first but changed her mind after receiving positive feedback from supporters.

“When I got the letter, I was a little sad. I thought, ‘Okay, I’m just going to take it down. I’m going to comply. I’m going to take it down and just not do this anymore.’ But then I got so much support off of Facebook, and I said, ‘Forget it. People are having so much fun with this, and they love it, I’m going to continue to do it.'”

Nava says she has no issues with her neighbors’ policy since Halloween will be over within the next few days.

“I believe we live in the greatest country in the entire world. And we do have the right to self-expression and creativity. And this is my way of being creative and having an outlet. There’s no harm. I’m not hurting anyone,”
