A Texas woman has been charged in connection with a large apartment fire that damaged 13 units after she allegedly set her boyfriend’s clothes on fire in a barbecue pit.
The incident occurred on Monday in Sheldon when authorities responded to reports of a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex. According to FOX 26 Houston, investigators say the woman placed clothing inside a barbecue pit located on a balcony. Although she reportedly attempted to put out the fire, it later rekindled and spread to nearby apartments.

Fire Causes Structural Damage and Partial Collapse
Officials confirmed that the blaze caused significant damage throughout the building.
Investigators said multiple apartments suffered smoke, fire, and water damage, and the fire also led to a partial structural collapse impacting both the first and second floors of the complex. Emergency crews worked quickly to contain the fire and prevent further spread. No fatalities were reported, though several residents were displaced due to the damage.
Woman Charged With Reckless Arson
The woman, whose identity has not been released, was charged with reckless arson, according to Brandi Dumas, a public information officer with the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office.
Authorities also confirmed that the woman was transported to a hospital following the incident, though the reason for her hospitalization has not been disclosed.
