A Texas mom has been charged after allegedly abandoning her 2 kids for 2 months, and while police were looking for her, she was posting about the situation online. The mother was eventually found in Alabama with a male friend, and she is currently facing two counts of Abandon Endanger Child Without Intent to Return.

Texas Mom Charged After Allegedly Abandoning Kids For 2 Months, She Was Found With Male Friend In Alabama

The mother has been identified as Raven Yates and she was taken into custody a couple states away three months after an arrest warrant was issued for leaving her two children home alone for months.

Roman Forest Chief of Police Stephen Carlisle says Yates is accused of abandoning her 12-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son on Sept. 28 in Texas.

Authorities add that the 12-year-old’s father, who had been working in California, specifically flew in to check in on the children after he was told that Yates was seen in Mobile, Alabama, without her children.

On November 14, the 12-year-old’s father had notified the police about arriving to the home and discovering that the children were left home alone since September.

While Yates was galavanting states away, evading her responsibilities and an arrest, Police Chief Carlisle claims the authorities had been sharing several social media posts about her.

And to make matters even wilder, Police Chief Carlisle adds that they believed Yates had been, seemingly, directly responding to their posts with her own!

He says, “She saw it, just like we figured she would, and then she started posting actively on social media because she’s that type of person that likes the attention.”

Carlisle says on February 9, Yates posted a selfie video on Instagram with the caption, “When you minding your own businesses and know the truth.”

He adds, “We started getting tips — of course a lot of the tips were dead ends — but some of them actually got us closer to her. That final tip is what told [the US Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force] where she was at.”

On March 8, Yates was arrested in Mobile, AL at an apartment complex, where she had been “staying with a male friend.” As of March 14, Yates remains in custody with the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, and is currently awaiting extradiiton back to Montgomery County, Texas.
