A McDonald’s employee in Texas was arrested after authorities said he double-charged dozens of customers and pocketed the extra cash.

According to FOX 8, 19-year-old Giovanni Blount was taken into custody after the Springtown Police Department issued a public alert warning residents who recently visited the fast-food chain to check their credit card statements for suspicious activity.

Investigators said Blount processed legitimate customer payments, then used a personal payment device to tap their cards a second time, charging an additional $10–$20 per transaction. The stolen funds were allegedly transferred to an account under his control.

Security Cameras Capture Drive-Thru Fraud Scheme

Blount reportedly worked in the drive-thru line, where the scheme unfolded over several shifts. Surveillance footage from the restaurant allegedly shows him completing two transactions for each customer — one legitimate charge and one fraudulent tap using his personal device.

Authorities said the device processed over 50 unauthorized transactions, resulting in approximately $680 stolen. When questioned by police, Blount confessed to the fraudulent activity and claimed he had already refunded some customers who noticed the extra charges.

Investigators believe the scam lasted several days before McDonald’s management and law enforcement intervened. Police are still encouraging customers who visited the location during that time to review their bank accounts for duplicate or unexplained charges.

Felony Charges Filed for Fraudulent Use of Information

Following the investigation, Blount was charged with fraudulent use or possession of identifying information involving more than 50 items, a first-degree felony under Texas law.
