Speaking on her son, Reyes admitted that he was “NOT a violent person,” but he did “keep to himself and didn’t have many friends.” She said, “I’m surprised by what he did. I pray for those families. I’m praying for all of those innocent children, yes I am. They [the children] had no part in this.”

Apparently, Reyes also denied claims of her having a toxic relationship with her son, and shot down claims that she abused drugs; which may or may not have resulted in her son’s warped personality.

Reyes insists, “I had a good relationship with him. He kept to himself; he didn’t have many friends.” She claims the last time they spoke was on Monday (May 23), following his birthday. She said, “I had a card and a Snoopy stuffed animal to give to him.”

Reyes was conducting the interview while holding her recovering mother’s hand in the hospital. She updated that her mother cannot smile, but knows she is there for her. She also aded that doctors do not know what her mother’s prognosis is.

Texas Mass Shooter’s Grandfather Insists He Had No Idea About The Teen’s Guns

Prior to Reyes’ interview with the news site, Ramos’ 74-year-old grandfather, Rolando Reyes, spoke with ABC News and also agreed that his grandson was a quiet teenager who spent most of his time alone in his room. Despite his daughter’s claims of not having a weak relationship with her son, Mr. Reyes says the mother and son did have “problems,” and  he was staying with his grandparents.

Mr. Reyes also claimed that he and the rest of the family had no idea that the teen had bought nearly $2,000 worth of guns and ammo last week; which is said to have been purchased a day after celebrating his 18th birthday with his grandmother and others at a local Applebee’s.

Reports claim that the teen purchased two AR-15s and loads of ammo, and continued to brag about his new possessions online, hinting that he would commit an atrocity.

Ramos’ grandfather adds, “I didn’t know he had weapons. If I’d have known, I would have reported it.”
