Erick Aguirre reportedly paid the victim,  49-year-old Nix, $40 to park his vehicle after his date and his date found their parking space on Lamar Street and Saint Emmanuel Street near a restaurant. Nix approached the couple, saying it would be $20 each to keep their parking space. According to PEOPLE,  employees saw Aguirre run to his vehicle, grab his gun, and chase after Nix over the parking scheme.

He allegedly fired several shots toward Nix and left him to die from his injuries before being transported to a local hospital. Nix died from his injuries several hours after the shooting, but investigators said Aguirre returned to the restaurant and assured to his date that everything was fine.

He told the woman that he just scared Nix and “everything was fine.” Court records also revealed that the pair left the table to eat somewhere else after Aguirre looked uncomfortable. Their date continued hours into the evening.

Aguirre was charged with murder for the April 11 death of Nix, and his bond was set for $200,000. Court records showed he was already out on probation for aggravated assault in South Texas at the time of the shooting. His date contacted the police two days after they released screenshots of their date.

“She wanted to do the right thing. She wanted to make sure that she came forward and told the police what she knew,” her attorney told NBC-2.

Social media users commented on the date and said that Aquirre reacted over the slightest inconvenience.
