Ocaster Ferguson from Texas has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Kayla Kelley, who had allegedly planned to blackmail him about being a married man before her death. The 33-year-old went missing back on January 11 after friends said they hadn’t heard from her in days and felt uneasy about her sudden disappearance.

Kelley’s cause of death has not yet been disclosed by the Collin County Sheriff’s Office, but investigators have already ruled her passing as a homicide case. Authorities were able to locate Kelley’s car which had been “burned beyond recognition” not far from the home where her boyfriend worked. According to NBC 5, Kelley discovered that the suspect was not only married but had also been using a fake name, which allegedly led her to tell friends how she was going to blackmail Ferguson, who she had simply known as “Kevin.”

His wife, who has not been publicly identified, revealed during questioning from cops that on January 4, she had received a text from a woman who wanted to speak with her, but she never called her back. When they later quizzed Ferguson when he had last seen Kelley, he claimed it was on January 10 when she dropped him off for work. But his phone records later determined he hadn’t been all the way truthful.

Ferguson failed to mention he had been near Kelley’s home later that day, as well as the area where her car ended up being found and burned. What’s even more bizarre is that Ferguson and his wife had recently reported their Lexus car as missing, which was later discovered in the victim’s apartment, where they found duct tape, a blanket, and gloves inside.

“He then left and drove up Dallas North Tollway and went to the area of Kelley’s duplex and then drove to the area where Kelley’s vehicle was found burned. Ferguson then traveled back to his house in Grand Prairie,” deputies said.

Ferguson continues to deny having any involvement in Kelley’s disappearance but has since been charged with murder, kidnapping, and arson, indicating that cops have more than enough evidence to believe he’s responsible for the crime.

“While we desperately hoped for a different outcome, I’m grateful for the dogged determination of my deputies and our Texas Rangers in locating Ms. Kelley,” Collin County Sheriff Jim Skinner said.
