Texas Cop That Killed Unarmed Black Man Trying To Break Up A Fight Is Released On $1M Bond
Yesterday, we reported on the police shooting of Jonathan Price, a 31-year-old unarmed Black man in Wolfe City, Texas, who was killed after trying to break up a fight on Saturday (Oct. 3). Now, the Texas cop who fatally shot Price has been released from jail on a $1 million bond.
Prior to his release, Wolfe City police officer Shaun David Lucas was placed on paid administrative leave as an investigation was launched. On Monday (Oct. 5), he was arrested and charged with murder in connection to the shooting; and within hours, he bonded out of jail after posting $1 million.

While Price’s family and civil rights attorney S. Lee Merritt demand answers, the Texas Rangers continue to investigate the fatal shooting. They state that Lucas tried to detain Price, who they say “resisted in a non-threatening posture and began walking away” during police confrontation. The Rangers explain that “Lucas deployed his taser, then discharged his service weapon, striking Price. After he was hit, EMS was notified and Price was transported to Hunt Regional Hospital, where he alter died.”
After Lucas posted bond, Merritt blasted, “This man is dangerous and should not be out on bond. The family was relieved to hear of his arrest and are looking forward to his conviction.”
