Terry Crews’ Wife Rebecca Undergoes Double Mastectomy After Breast Cancer Diagnosis
Actress and singer Rebecca Crews is recovering after undergoing a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery following her stage one breast cancer diagnosis.
Rebecca, who is also the wife of actor Terry Crews, shared that she had a small, pre-cancerous lump removed from her right breast twelve years ago. But, after her mother had a cancerous lump removed last year, Rebecca decided to take extra precautions in terms of screenings. Following her most recent doctor’s appointment a few weeks ago, Rebecca received a phone call confirming that she had breast cancer.

While speaking with PEOPLE Magazine, the mother of five said, “Though it was Stage 1, you’re overwhelmed with fear,” the 54-year-old said, “Like cancer is this all-consuming, all-powerful evil entity.”
Although she managed to find strength to push through this, Rebecca admitted that the news was a little difficult for her husband to take in.
“My husband has watched me go through a lot, but the look on his face … he looked at me like I was going to die,” she said. “He told me it felt like his insides were melting. I said, ‘I need you to be strong for me,’ and he said, ‘OK,’ and hugged me, but I think he needed that hug.”
Rebecca underwent surgery on March 3rd. She had her husband by her side and was also joined by her pastor, Marguerite Reeve, and best friend from college, Muriel. As the news site reports, since Rebecca chose to have a double mastectomy, she will not undergo radiation treatment. She is now cancer-free and at home with her family.
