Former NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens was reportedly hit by a vehicle Monday night in Calabasas after an argument over a basketball game, authorities said.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, deputies received a call about two men arguing at a bar. Investigators said after the argument, a man, who has not been identified, struck Owens with a vehicle. The Pro Football Hall of Famer didn’t suffer any injuries and did not require any medical attention, according to LASD.
LASD said investigators haven’t spoken with the man accused of hitting Owens and noted that he has not been taken into custody.
Terrell Owens, often referred to as “T.O.,” is a former American football wide receiver who had a highly successful and controversial career in the National Football League (NFL). Owens was selected in the third round (89th overall) of the 1996 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. He played for the San Francisco 49ers (1996-2003), Philadelphia Eagles (2004-2005), Dallas Cowboys (2006-2008), Buffalo Bills (2009), and Cincinnati Bengals (2010).
Owens was known for his incredible speed, agility, and ability to make acrobatic catches. He was a six-time Pro Bowl selection and a five-time First-Team All-Pro during his career. Owens had a number of memorable seasons, including his time with the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles, where he established himself as one of the NFL’s top wide receivers.
He is also known for his partnership with quarterback Donovan McNabb in Philadelphia, helping the Eagles reach Super Bowl XXXIX in the 2004 season. Owens had several contentious moments during his career, including on-field controversies and disputes with teammates, coaches, and management.
Terrell Owens finished his career with impressive statistics, ranking among the all-time NFL leaders in various receiving categories. He ranks second in career receiving yards, third in career touchdown receptions, and eighth in career receptions. Owens set numerous NFL records during his career, including being the first player in NFL history to score a touchdown against all 32 NFL teams.
Despite his on-field success, Terrell Owens faced challenges being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
