Novak Djokovic reportedly threw several temper tantrums during Saturday’s match against Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta at the Olympics.

The tennis player appeared to become more frustrated as the match carried on and he threw his racket into the stands. He also slammed it into the net which led to a warning from the umpire as reported by the New York Post. However, Djokovic claims that his “tantrums” are a part of his personality and he’s only human. “I don’t like doing these things. I’m sorry for sending this kind of message, but we’re all human beings and sometimes it’s difficult to control your emotions,” he says.
He apparently withdrew from earning the bronze medal for the mixed doubles match and claimed he had a left shoulder injury. Earlier this year, he won three Grand Slams and he would have been the first male tennis player to finish the Golden Slam if he earned a gold medal at the Olympics. Spectators criticized his outburst since female athletes, specifically, black female athletes are not given the same grace when expressing their emotions while competing,

It’s astonishing that some people call @Simone_Biles a selfish coward for withdrawing from some events, and yet praise @DjokerNole for his “passion” in smashing racquets after failing to medal and in ditching his doubles teammate.
