Tennessee Republican Congressman Andy Ogles — who previously proposed amending the Constitution to allow President Donald Trump to seek a third term — is now asking the Secretary of Interior to add Trump’s head to Mount Rushmore.

As we previously shared, three days after Donald Trump’s second term’s inauguration, Tennessee Representative Andy Ogles drafted a proposal to amend the Constitution of the United States to allow Donald Trump to run for a third term.

Donald Trump, ironically on April Fool’s Day (April 1), told the press in the Oval Office that he would “love” to run for a third time. He even said he would “love” to run against former President Barack Obama.

In late April, Donald Trump again entertained the, honestly unconstitutional, idea of running for a third term. He teased it by selling a $50 hat that read “Trump 2028.” Trump sold the hats on his official merchandise website, and they were a hit.

Donald Trump Previously Told NBC News That He Was ‘Not Joking’ About Considering A Third Run For President

By May 4, Donald Trump had changed his tune about seeking a third term, finally admitting that it is unconstitutional. During an exclusive interview with NBC News’ ‘Meet The Press,’ Trump finally admitted that a third term is something “you’re not allowed to do.”

Currently, the 22nd Amendment of the Constitution prohibits a president from seeking a third term in the White House. Trump’s change of tune arrived after he previously told NBC News in March that he was “not joking” about considering a third run for president. During a phone call with moderator Kristen Welker, he said there are “methods” to secure a third term. Trump told Welker:

“A lot of people want me to do it. But, I mean, I basically tell them we have a long way to go. You know, it’s very early in the administration. I’m focused on the current.”

When asked to clarify his comments, he said, “I’m not joking. But I’m not — it is far too early to think about it.” NBC also asked Trump if he’d been presented with plans to allow him to secure a third term. He said, “There are methods which you could do it.”

Tennessee Republican Rep. Andy Ogles, Who Previously Proposed Third Term For Donald Trump, Asks Secretary Of Interior To Add Trump To Mount Rushmore

Since seemingly sparking this — again, unconstitutional — idea of Donald Trump running for a third term as president, Tennessee Republican Congressman Andy Ogles is now asking Secretary Of Interior Doug Burgum to add Trump’s head to Mount Rushmore.

The ask arrives hours after Trump’s GOP-led House followed his GOP-led Senate to pass his massive spending and tax cuts bill, known as the “One Big, Beautiful Bill.”

On Thursday (July 3), the House passed the bill 218-214. On Tuesday (July 1), the Senate narrowly passed the bill after pulling an all-nighter. Vice President JD Vance had to break the 50-50 tie to pass the legislation. The bill is now on its way to Donald Trump’s desk, where he will sign it into law, just on time for his July 4 deadline he gave Congress.

Taking to his personal X account, Rep. Andy Ogles made his ask to Secretary Burgum while praising Donald Trump and comparing him to former presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. He said:

“I’m asking @SecretaryBurgum to put Trump on Mt. Rushmore. Given the scale and scope of President Trump’s recent achievements—especially the impending enactment of the Big Beautiful Bill, the historic act that will ignite America’s Golden Age—it is essential that we immortalize President Trump’s likeness on Mount Rushmore.

Like Washington, Trump did not seek his position for glory but out of love for his country, championing American independence and reshaping the presidency with dynamism, clarity, and purpose.

Like Jefferson, he expanded America’s horizons by pursuing new frontiers and breaking away from deep state tyrants.

Like Teddy Roosevelt, Trump took on entrenched interests, reinvigorated American industry, and avenged the working class against bureaucratic bloat and corporate corruption.

The legacy of Mount Rushmore cannot remain frozen in stone; it must evolve to reflect the full arc of American history, including its most recent and transformative chapter.”
