Ten People Killed In Shooting Rampage In Canada

A 51-year-old man who was reportedly dressed as a police officer went on a shooting rampage in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia early Sunday morning. As of now it has been reported that there are at least ten victims, one being a police officer.

The suspect has been identified by police as Gabriel Wortman. The bloody rampage lasted 12 hours across a small coastal town called Portapique, before the gunman led police on a chase that ended near a gas station. RCMP confirmed at a 6 p.m. news conference that the suspected gunman was killed.

“Our hearts are heavy with grief and sadness today as we have lost one of our own,” said Brian Sauvé the President of National Police Federation union. “A second dedicated Member was injured in the line of duty.”

Wortman was a denturist with clinics in Portland Street in Dartmouth and Novalea Drive in Halifax. A motive has not yet been made clear.

Portapique residents report that the horrific incident started late on Saturday night when police urged everyone to stay indoors.
