A New York judge denied Tekashi69’s request for an early release due to the COVID-19 pandemic stating he is too dangerous to be free from jail.
According to Page Six, Anthony Ellison’s attorneys issued a request to Judge Paul Engelmayer to grant an early release since he is asthmatic and at risk to catch the virus at the Metropolitan Correctional Center. The request states Ellison should be released on a $200,000 bail and remain in home confinement.
However, the judge said Ellison is considered to be too “dangerous” to be released from the correctional facility:

“The court, based on the trial record and Ellison’s criminal history, regards him as ‘far too great a danger to the community to justify his release,’

The high-ranking member of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods was convicted last year for the kidnapping and robbery of Teskahi69, real name Daniel Gonzalez, along with slashing a rival in the face a few months after. His sentencing is scheduled for June 19 and faces a life sentence.
