Tekashi 6ix9ine Denied Early Prison Release Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

Looks like Tekashi 6ix9ine will remain stuck in the slammer for now as a judge in his case has denied his request to serve out the remainder of his prison sentence at home to avoid contracting the novel coronavirus.

Apparently, the judge said the reason he denied his request was because the court lacks the legal authority to grant it… so his hands are tied. Although that may be the case, he implies Tekashi should file his request with the Bureau of Prisons instead, and it looks like his lawyers will do just that. Lance Lazzaro, tells TMZ he believes the judge’s decision “is a strong recommendation to the BOP to release him immediately.”

The judge also explained that had he known there would be a global pandemic before his sentencing, the court would have possibly directed the final four months to be served in home confinement, the news site notes.

As we previously reported, Lazzaro wrote a letter to the judge asking for Tekashi to be out early and serve his sentence since he suffers from asthma, which would make catching the coronavirus that much more serious. Tekashi’s expected to be released from prison in August.
