The pilot program , called the Safe Driver Apprenticeship, was created in a series of initiatives by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration last week. It will allow teens, aged 18 and 19, and 20-year olds to become truck drivers amid the supply chain crisis in the United States.
Additionally, the program requires the young drivers to meet safety standards to avoid driving violations that can take place on the road such as traffic tickets and accidents. As reported by the New York Post, the FMSCA is expected to accept 3,000 apprentices.

Their experience will be recorded and tracked until they are 21 and the program is expected to last for three years.
