A Wisconsin man is facing several charges after he allegedly kidnapped a teen and held them for ransom.

NBC 12 reports the 13-year-old victim from Milwaukee was meeting up with his friends around 4 p.m. on Jan.5. His mother said she received a call about an hour later saying that her son was kidnapped and duct taped. Initially, she thought it was a prank until a man called her from a blocked number and demanded $10,000 in exchange for her son’s return. The call was made by Isiah Pickens,20, the older brother of the victim’s friend.

Police were told by the victim that he and his friends went to Walmart to get duct tape and drove to Graceland Cemetary, where he was bound and assaulted. He stated his assailants had possessed a gun during the kidnapping. While he was left alone in front of the hotel in an SUV, the teen managed to escape by wiggling himself free from the tape.

A week later, Pickens was arrested but claimed during an interview that he “did not have any part in the kidnapping but knew about it.”

He faces several charges which include physical abuse of a child, robbery and false imprisonment. His bail is set for $75,000 and his court date is scheduled for February 11.
