Teen Dead After Friends Wearing Body Armor Take Turns Shooting Each Other

It is no secret that today’s teenagers and young adults have been subject to crazy challenges and dangerous games, but, this one just got deadly.

Most recently, a Florida teen was killed after he and a friend took turns wearing body armor and shooting at each other.

CBS news reports that 15-year-old Christopher Leroy Broad, passed away after being taken to an Orlando hospital with gunshot wounds.

An initial investigation into his death concluded that he and his 17-year-old friend Joshua Vining had been taking turns shooting at each other “while wearing a vest which contained a form of body armor,” per the Belleview Police Department, after they “discovered evidence to prove that Vining shot and killed Broad,” adding that“Vining shot at Broad while he was wearing the vest and he was struck.”

Per the arrest affidavits, an 18-year-old who was with the group, identified as Evan Vowell, filmed the incident on his cell phone and turned over the footage to be used as evidence. According to Vowell, Vining’s actions led to the fatal shooting after he showed him, Broad, Whitler and at least one other juvenile a 9mm gun and a vest, asking if they “had ever seen anyone get shot with a bullet proof vest on.”

Vining released after posting $30k bond.

Following the discovery, Vining was arrested on Thursday and he was charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child with a firearm. He paid a $30,000 bail and was released.

He and another teen will both be tried as adults for their involvement. The other teen reportedly lied about the events that took pace, prompting his arrest.

Dangerous TikTok challenge hits NC neighborhood

Back in March, parents were warned about another dangerous TikTok challenge that had kids shooting at each other with water-bead ammo as it sounded like an automatic weapon. While no fatal incidents were reported, the ammo did leave marks and paved the way for children to potentially partake in more dangerous activities.
